To the East Side - Print
This is a limited edition print of an original acrylic painting. Printed with archival quality inks and paper.
I had a dream that the river corridor was a kingdom of the river, and the floods were its cavalry riding out to check the outer edges of the kingdom and was displeased to find many squatters encroaching in the outerlands. I think this was my brain’s way of processing recent/ongoing floods along with the bedtime book I’m reading with my son about the Alamo (a story filled with horseback messengers and complicated territory fights as part of Mexico became Texas). This same dream included me getting frustrated with my phone as I stood in a dark parking lot and tried to get Siri to give me directions to the South Burlington Mall as a would-be attacker came up behind me, and as I turned to face him I lassoed him around the neck and yelled “I got YOU!”… so there’s a lot to analyze there… but my reason for sharing is that while it’s somewhat poetic to personify the river as a being with territory to defend and a wrath to impart, it’s not the way I actually feel about it. To me, the river just is. And not to say I don’t feel it in a spiritual way – I do believe its more than a collection of physical and biological processes playing out in response to its watershed - but I think the river is above any territorial fights or desire of any sort – the river is indifferent.
Choose 8 X 10 ($25) or 11 X 14 ($40) size.
Ships in a sturdy envelope. If you are local to Vermont you may also opt for “pickup” upon checkout at the Emile Gruppe Gallery in Jericho, VT.
