Room for Change - 5 X 7 Folded Card
5 X 7 reproduction of an original acrylic painting.
Beavers have been active in the section of Mill Brook on the Mobb’s land in Jericho. When I visited this spring I noticed that several of their dams hadn’t held up over the winter, but the woody structures were still playing a role in building floodplain and facilitating migration of the channel to a more stable slope. Sometimes people have a hard time witnessing this sort of change as it challenges their viewpoint of what it is “supposed” to look like. But personally, I get excited to witness this sort of physical evolution, partly because my educational background in ecology helps me understand all the subtle benefits that beavers facilitate on the landscape, but also because it contrasts sharply with other types of natural changes that are imperceptibly slow (like the transition of a field to a forest or the slow erosion of a mountain side). Beaver meadows are a constant flux and gentle reminders to welcome the constancy of change into our lives.
These cards include an envelope and protective sleeve. The size is perfect for sending a letter to a friend or framing as a small print.
Ships in a sturdy envelope. If you are local to Vermont you may also opt for “pickup” upon checkout at the Emile Gruppe Gallery in Jericho, VT.
