Once Was

$160.00

10 X 10 original acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas.

This painting is based on the fluvial geomorphic concept of meander migration and is inspired by Relative Elevation models created from topographic LiDAR imagery. Rivers move around within their valleys over time through the physical processes of erosion and deposition.  It’s important to give rivers the necessary space for these processes to play out over time, both for the maintenance of river health and the protection of our human investments on the landscape.  The concept of “River Corridors” aims to estimate the space necessary to achieve this goal, and Vermont is a global leader in mapping and applying this concept in a land use planning context.

Ships unframed in a generously padded box. If you are local to Vermont you may also opt for “pickup” upon checkout at the Emile Gruppe Gallery in Jericho, VT.
