Hump in the Haze
24 X 30 original acrylic painting on canvas
I sometimes wonder if the world would feel more beautiful if I wasn’t so aware of all the ways we are unraveling it. I can’t walk along a river without noting all the steep riffles or degree of incision that tell a story of human manipulation, and the hazy glow of sundown through forest fire smoke would be quite enchanting if it didn’t feel quite so apocalyptic. But maybe finding beauty in these things is a redeeming human quality-this ability to find poetry in tragedy and pain - and maybe this fuels our love for the earth and humanity and drives us to do better. Maybe.
This is a view of Camel’s Hump looking up the Winooski (just downstream from Mazza’s farm in Essex if you know the area) through a haze of forest fire smoke wafting down from Canada.
Ships unframed in a generously padded box. If you are local to Vermont you may also opt for “pickup” upon checkout at the Emile Gruppe Gallery in Jericho, VT.
