Brewing Kettle
8 X 10 original acrylic painting on canvas
In Jericho Center there is a kettle, left behind when a giant chunk of glacial ice melted away, leaving behind a bowl-shaped depression on the landscape. One of my earliest memories is in this kettle – or rather careening down the side of it on a toboggan, everyone tumbling out at the bottom and me clonking heads with the large-headed boy sitting in front of me (ouch). Now there is a grove of pine planted there to discourage any more bonking of heads… but the view of it from the end of Nashville Road looking west is still glorious. It’s a popular spot to pull off the road and watch the sunset – likely one of the few places in town with a direct view all the way to the Adirondacks. On this particular spring day a storm was approaching, rolling across the lake, filling the sky with a million shades of thick deep blue and filling me with the glorious anticipation of a good storm.
Ships framed in a generously padded box. If you are local to Vermont you may also opt for “pickup” upon checkout at the Emile Gruppe Gallery in Jericho, VT.
